I Am Me
Words and Music by Jill Zutty

Growing up seemed so easy now looking back
All I wanted were simple things like TV and snacks
Popcorn and Koolaid, we'd play some charades
Some homework to do-our choices were few

As I grew older, things got tough
School it got harder and the kids were rough
My grades started falling
The teachers were calling
What were they to do, but come to my rescue

Can't you see me for who I am?
Won't you take me for what you see?
Can't you take me so I can breathe?
For I am me... for I am me...

One mistake bred another - God where did I fail?
I just want you to see me - what would that entail?
Give me that motivation
Coupled with some inspiration
So I can get back on my feet

Can't you see me for who I am?
Won't you take me for what you see?
Can't you take me so I can breathe?
For I am me... for I am me...

And I got my pride on my back
No one can take that from me
And I'm finally back on track
Back to that road that leads me home.....

Can't you see me for who I am?
Won't you take me for what you see?
Can't you take me so I can breathe?
For I am me... for I am me...
For I am me....for I am me....
